River Convention – Meal Arrangements

Meal times during convention are a communal event and opportunity for fellowship – but they don’t just happen on their own. To the communities we are outreaching in, it is a witness and demonstration of the unity that is made possible between believers because of the resurrecting, life-giving power of the cross. You are invited to participate in this witness to the community.

Below are some possibilities of what meal times may look like during convention.

Breakfast is everyone’s own responsibility.

Lunches are normally provide your own, and on a non-travel day you might like to sit around together with friends and family and any local visitors. Occassionally due to weather or other circumstances lunchtime might be a shared outreach meal, in which case it will likely be a BBQ lunch / sausage sandwich.

Dinners are usually before the evening outreach to give time for preparation. We like for dinners to be shared, and available to the community. Please contribute something to the dinner table – with appropriate serving utensils, and remember to collect your items at the end of the meal. The River Convention team will usually provide some BBQ meat and bread to make sure there is enough food to go around.

Josiah Healing Centre has generously provided throw-away plates and utensils, but if you would like to bring along your own and be responsible to wash it up afterwards, that would be great!

While we never charge any ‘fees’ for joining or attending convention, people find different ways of contributing to the meals, fuel, insurances and additional costs that are involved in organising and facilitating convention. Some bring up boxes of veges, some bring fruit for platters, others bring meat. We would encourage each of you to prayerfully consider how you might be able to contribute to the meals during convention. If you would like to contribute financially please transfer money to the following account:
